Main Street Village Exhibit

Taking a stroll downtown on Main Street in Kendallville during the first weekend in October, visitors will find themselves transported back in time to the 1840’s. Main Street Village is part of Kendallville’s annual fall Apple Festival. Along both sides of the street are booths with vendors selling everything from homemade candles to dried floral arrangements. Those looking for something good to eat will find apple fritters, chicken and noodles, porkburgers, fresh lemonade and much more on the bill of fare.

Pioneer games and contests, pumpkin painting, quilt displays, and a collection of old time bicycles are among some of the many attractions. Entertainment by the Inclognito Cloggers, Shakin’ Hammer String Band, and Dr. Barth’s Old Time Medicine Wagon will add enjoyment to strolling down Main Street Village.

The Mid-America Windmill Museum is a proud member of the Kendallville community and annually participates in the Main Street Village by having an exhibit at the end of Main Street. We welcome every opportunity to share the uniqueness of the museum by having a vintage windmill for people to inspect and admire up close. Each year, volunteers from the museum, under the creative design genius of Pam Younce, create a display featuring a windmill from the museum’s collection. Our purpose at the Mid-America Windmill Museum is to collect, preserve, exhibit, educate, and build awareness about windmills. Having the museum represented in the Main Street Village provides an excellent opportunity to further educate and increase awareness of the impact the American Windmill had on society.

Visitors enjoying the Apple Festival of Kendallville also have the opportunity to tour the Mid-America Windmill Museum located on the east side of the city. Museum hours are Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday from 1 to 4 p.m. Why not make time for both and truly get a taste of pioneer life! Ample free parking is available. Families and group tours are welcomed. Contact the museum for more information.
