Kendallville Holiday Parade

The Mid-America Windmill Museum has a history of participating in the Kendallville Holiday Parade down Main Street on the last Saturday in November. What better way to start the Christmas holiday season than with a parade! Sponsored by the Kendallville Chamber of Commerce and the Downtown Business Association, this annual tradition brings together businesses and community groups to provide an enjoyable holiday event for family and friends.

Each year the parade committee decides on a central theme that the participating groups must use. Colorful, decorative floats represent a variety of business, community and civic groups. The museum is fortunate to be able to draw upon the artistic creative minds of volunteers Pam Younce and Jerry Stienbarger. Once the idea becomes a design, many other dedicated volunteers are involved in building the float. A windmill from the museum’s collection is always an important element in the floats created for the parade. Although the museum’s tourist season closes at the end of November, having presence in the Holiday Parade provides a visual reminder to the community that the Mid-America Windmill Museum is an important part of Kendallville.
