Windmills and antique gas engines again come together on the grounds at the Mid-America Windmill Museum on Friday, July 23 and Saturday, July 24, 2010 for the annual Windmill & Gas Engine Swap Meet.
Windmill dealers and gas engine collectors from all over the area will gather to buy, sell, trade, barter and swap parts and pieces to fellow collectors, hobbyists and old iron enthusiasts. If you are looking for that special deal or have one to sell, this is the place. Swap Meet hours are 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Friday and Saturday.
There is no exhibitor fee; however, exhibitors are asked to use the Wallace Road entrance for the museum. Regular visitors should use the main entrance to the museum on Allen Chapel Road (C.R. 1000 E). Admission is $4.00 for adults, $3.50 for seniors (55+), and $1.50 for students and can be paid in the museum’s Gift Shop. Children under 6 are admitted free. Visitors will be able to tour the museum and check out the great deals on windmills and gas engines while learning all about windmills and wind power.
Visitors will also be able to purchase a windmill raffle ticket for the chance to win a Raymond W Sectional windmill or $1,000 in cash as first prize. Second prize is $250 and third prize is $150 in cash. The drawing for the raffle will be on Sunday, December 12, 2010 at the museum’s Windmill Winter Wonderland. Winners need not be present to win. Proceeds from the raffle will help support the mission of the Mid-America Windmill Museum. Buy a ticket and support the museum.
Food and beverages will be available on the grounds.
